Another crazy busy week!  Hopefully we’ll have all of the second round of the Family Gratitude kit shipped next week (just waiting on a couple of more shipments from manufacturers) and then we can get down to the busy, craziness of the holidays!  Happy news!  We are now up to 520 items donated in our food drive!  Keep up the good work as there are some AMAZING prizes to be won!!!  Remember, you have until the 20th of this month to enter.  For all the information, check here.

Ok, how could you not fall in love with this pup?

When she won’t stop barking, is jumping all over guests, is peeing on the floor and is nipping at the children, I try to keep those sweet sleepy moments in mind…  And I also try to remember one day she will be grown and will be a calm, loving dog.

I just realized that half the post I wrote of the last one didn’t make.  So I’ll try again!

Two years ago I had watched an Oprah episode where she had given each member of her audience $1000 and challenged them to give it away in the best way possible.  I was incredibly moved by so many of the ways those women found to help those around them with that gift.  That show led me to do something special for someone in our community.  I asked all my local friends if they knew of a family that could really use some extra help.  Originally I had had a single mother in mind, that was until a friend mentioned Jeannie.  Jeannie was a local doula that many of my friends had used when they had their babies.  She had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer that had metastasized to her brain, bones and liver.  Worse yet, her 12 year old daughter not long after was diagnosed with lymphoma.  One of her other children had Downe’s and Jeannie desperately wanted to be around to care for him and the rest of her family.  My friends and I decided that it wasn’t help with their medical bills they needed but a way to forget for just a small while all that they were dealing with.  We managed to pull together enough money to send them to Hawaii for a week.  Sadly, Jeannie lost her battle this past spring on her birthday.  Helping to bring a small measure of happiness to her and her family during that difficult time has meant so much to me.  I am so glad that we had the opportunity to do that for her.  I only wish we could have done more.

This week, please leave a comment about a charitable act that has been especially meaningful to you.  Do so and you will be entered into a drawing for Christine’s December Kit and one of Ali Edwards’ December Daily kit (without the D Reeves album).  Good luck!
