Happy Late Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day with family and friends!  We went over to celebrate the day with some local friends and their out of town family.  We had a wonderful day — the food was scrumptious (Kevin missed his calling as a gourmet chef and his cousin is a pastry chef!), and the company was great!  Unfortunately, we don’t like to have a special day without a bit of added drama…  Their dog bit Alice on the face right after the soup course.  Poor little Alice — it looked horrible!  Fortunately, their neighbor is an internist so we gave him a call.  He told us not to take her to the emergency room because they wouldn’t do anything — just to keep the wound clean, neosporine on it, and don’t cover it up.  As you can imagine, it put a bit of a damper on the day.  And left her mother too distracted to remember to pick a winner!  I hope you can all forgive me for being a day late with this…  and that there are no pictures again today!  Scott is off running errands and the camera is in the car with him — I’ll try to update tomorrow!

So, without further ado, the winner of the last drawing is:

Congratulations Cathi on winning that great prize!

For the first time ever I’ll be working on Thanksgiving. Fortunately I’ll be off by 2:00 pm so I can still enjoy a little extra time with my family.

Congratulations Shawn and please contact me with your shipping information!

Tonight we are off to the annual holiday parade through downtown Corvallis — fortunately it’s neither very cold nor wet as it usually is this time of year — should make for a fun night!

“Making a Difference” Food Drive

We’ve all heard the gloomy economic news this fall, the dizzying drop in the markets, the increasing numbers of unemployed, falling home values and hard hit retailers. We have all been affected in some way by this crisis, but those hardest hit are those least able to afford it. The demand for food assistant during these rough times has increased at a staggering rate and food banks are being stretched to the breaking point by the volume of need they are encountering.

Scrapbookers are women known for their generosity and for rallying behind a cause. I want to help the international scrapbook community join together during the holiday season to do what we can to help alleviate hunger both here in the US and around the world. In light of this goal, Cocoa Daisy is sponsoring an internet food drive. We are asking scrapbookers to do their part to help their local food banks by bringing in whatever they can spare. And we in turn, to help drive this charitable giving, will hold a FABULOUS drawing full of amazing prizes!!!

If you’d like to get involved, here’s what you need to do.

  • Gather up your donation and go to wherever you are donating it – a drop box at a school, a food bank, your church, etc.
  • Then, take a photo of you and your donation.
  • Upload it to the Cocoa Daisy Gallery and include a caption with your photo and the number of items you donated.
  • For every 5 items you donate, your name will be entered into the drawing.
  • If you would rather not or are unable to physically bring food to a shelter you can make donations through our store, in $5 increments, and those donations will be distributed to food banks around the country.  For every $5 donated, your name will be entered into the drawing once.
  • On December 20th we will close the food drive and draw winners for all the super prizes from our very generous sponsors.

The Making a Difference Food Drive will run from Nov 20th-Dec 20th and my hope is that we’ll be able to donate several thousands of pounds of food for needy individuals this holiday season.

Here is a list of items most wanted by food banks:
canned meats (i.e., tuna, chicken, salmon)
canned and boxed meals (i.e., soup, chili, stew, macaroni and cheese)
peanut butter
canned or dried beans and peas (i.e., black, pinto, lentils)
pasta, rice, cereal
canned fruits
100 percent fruit juice (canned, plastic or boxed).

We hope you will join us in the fun and help make a difference in our world today!

If you have any questions or comments about our food drive or the drawing, please feel free to email us at mailbox@cocoadaisy.com

Poor Kim!  Sometimes it takes forever for her kits to reach South Africa!  But, she always makes the wait to see what she comes up with worthwhile!  I am just in love with what she created this month!!!!

This one, “Their Love” is my favorite:

Check this month’s designer gallery to see the rest of Kim’s layouts as well as all the amazing layouts created by our talented Daisy Divas!!

A bit of clarification on ship dates and other information

I am very sorry for any confusion about the ship date of Ali’s Family Gratitude Project.  One of the girls that works with me mistakenly noted on order updates that the Family Gratitude Project would not be shipping until the end of this month.  That was an error.  The kit is shipping this week as expected.  We received our order from 7 Gypsies late Monday afternoon and are scrambling to get all the kits assembled and out the door this week so that everyone can get working on their projects just as soon as possible.   I am very sorry for any inconvenience our miscommunication might have caused.

The kit that IS shipping at the end of the month is the December Daily.  Because demand was so high for the kit we decided to reissue it after emailing several dozen customers to insure that they would still be interested in that kit even with a late November ship date.  We still have a few of those in stock.

I’ve also heard from quite a number of customers who missed out on the Family Gratitude Spinner.  We are currently gauging interest to see if we should restock that kit.  If you are interested in purchasing the Family Gratitude kit, please email me at tricia@cocoadaisy.com to be added to the wait list.  Caveat here, I would imagine the very best turnaround time on that would be at least 2 weeks, but that should give you enough time to receive and assemble the kit in time for Christmas or to give it as a Christmas gift.

I hope that clarifies everything!  Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!
