A weekend off and life at 39

I’m trying to be steadier about this whole blog thing and I think I’m doing much better since my summer “hiatus”. Of course as I’m posting about the weekend on Tuesday, obviously there is still room for improvement!
Saturday I was up and adam at the curiously early hour of 4:30 so that I could be on the road at 5am so that I could be at Ali’s house at 6. It’s funny what a different feel 4:30 am has when there’s actually a purpose to being awake as opposed to the only reason normally I ever see that time — insomnia. I think I’m much more a fan of early morning purpose.
As with any good road trip for us, it started out with a stop at Dutch Brothers where I get my frou-frou coffee and Ali gets her straight up black (decaf these days). The contrast is always good for a chuckle for us. Then of course we stopped at MikeyD’s for an egg mcmuffin and then we were off.
We then had 3 hours of highway before us and hours of endless talks. We decided we needed at least one more road trip before little Miss Edwards makes her appearance as we love our trips together!
As always I so enjoyed watching Ali teach. As you know, she is an incredibly talented public speaker and has such a way of connecting with everyone in a room. The other fun thing about the event was that I got to meet a couple of Cocoa Daisy subscribers! Here’s a photo of me with Holly (a subscriber), Lisa and Melissa (who work with me), Teri and Katie (both subscribers).
And then one with Ali and Karen
After this picture the three of us got away for a great catch-up lunch. It went much too quickly. Karen is such an incredible woman — I wish she didn’t live 4 hours away!
After lunch it was the 4 hour drive back home. Dinner with the kids, made s’mores in the backyard and I was in bed by 9:30.
The next day we went to a wine bottling at Rain Song Winery. It was such a fun day with absolutely perfect weather! There was a bouncy house and glitter tatoos for the kids, wine tastings for the adults, a potluck and a chance to try our hand at the the bottling machinery. I can’t wait to do it again next year!
And… I’ve actually done some more scrapbooking. 39 isn’t exactly an age that one wants to embrace but I thought, there is going to be a day when I wish I was 39 so I decided to create a mini album to document this age. It was actually a fun little mini album to create! I used the main October kit and some items from the add-ons — primarily from the Boston Common.
