Happy Thursday!

Print This Post Print This Post

I just decided I like Thursdays — the week is almost over yet it’s still a solid day of work, the garbage man comes, and more importantly with all the cardboard we have to dispose of, the recycling truck comes and Scott takes the kids to swimming at night so I get an hr and 15 minutes to myself (which I generally squander on laundry and watching Entertainment Tonight or something else of equally low merit!).  I love the recycling part as that usually means I can now move around my work area again instead of tripping over huge piles of cardboard and I like an organized work area (although that may not always show!).

I am very happy to say, today was NOT a snow day.  We had a snow day last Friday, Monday and yesterday — a total of FIVE for the month.  It’s definitely hard to work with a 2 and 5 year old under foot!  We are back to our normal grey, rainy 40 degree weather and I think I like that very much!

So… the layouts and projects are starting to stream in from CD and they are of course amazing!!!  I thought I’d give you a little sneak here and we will have the rest up in the gallery tonight.  Here’s a little canvas that she created.  LOVE IT!!!

And here is a tiny peek at one of her layouts:

(The large pink flower is the Fancy Pants felt pieces from October.  I considered including them in an add-on but thought that many customers would already have them.  We do have some individual sheets available.  If you are interested in purchasing one, please send me an email.)

And you might notice something going on with the message board and the gallery this week.  YES — we are finally getting some movement going on the whole integration project.  I’ll definitely let you know when it’s complete.  I think we just might need a big contest as well to celebration it’s completion!

My rep sent me pdf’s of 7 Gypsies and the Chatterbox catalogs yesterday (CBX was bought by 7G in case you hadn’t heard that).  7 Gypsies was amazing, of course!  There’s so many new products that I want to incorporate into kits.  But what was so surprising was the Chatterbox catalog.  All I can say is WOW!!!!  They have completely reinvented themselves and all their new products are so yummy!  Have any of you seen any of it yet?  I was fully expecting not to like any of it and so it was even more of a shock when I wanted to order basically everything they have!  Can’t wait to hear what you think!  What companies’ products are you wild about (from the sneak peeks, that is)?

Well, there was no Weight Watchers weigh-in this week with the snow.  I’ll report in on that next week.  I did fairly well on my 15 workouts — just 2 to do today!  I’ve already got the kids scheduled for daycare at the gym this evening so that’s at least the guarantee of one more workout (I’ll count doing the weight class as one and then 30 minutes on the eliptical trainer as two.  Is that cheating?)  Hope at the end of the first month your New Year’s Resolutions have faired better than mine.

We decided to go with a different alpha for CD’s kit.  We are now using American Crafts Glitter “Roller Rink” Thickers!  I’m so excited that we are going to have these fun little alphas in hand even before CHA!  In fact, we are going to be one of the very first stores to get them!

Here’s a photo of the kit with the new alpha included:

And then a close-up of the alpha:

Aren’t they fun?

Another snow day…

It’s amazing what an inch or two of snow can do to a place that’s just not used to it.  The kids are home again today.  They spent most of the morning out in the cul-de-sac playing with our neighbors.  I love looking out there and seeing kids from 2-18 all playing together; the big kids are just so sweet with my little ones!  They helped Jack build a snowman (ok, more of a snow Java-the-hut than an actual snowman).  I’ll need to go get a photo of that one!  They sled with Alice over and over and carry her back up the hill each time.  We have great neighbors!

And, I’m two workouts closer to my workout goal — I did a weight class at the gym last night and this morning I got up and did yoga.  There’s a great yoga program on at 6am on Oxygen.  It’s a pretty good workout.  I love when I actually get up to do it; actually makes me enjoy insomnia a bit.  So, only 3 more workouts to go!  But yet another chocolate chip cookie further away from my weight goal.  Thank you Scott for eating the last two!!!  Maybe I can do the Weight Watchers weigh-in on Wed instead of tomorrow morning…

Spending today trying to get everything set for the store to go live.  Here’s a peek at the stamp sets CD designed for the kit.  I LOVE them!!!  The first one, life labelz are all interchangeable.  The words can fit into any of the shapes, how cool is that?!?!  And the whole set is just $8.95!  Kah-Mei from Fontwerks created them so you know they are top quality!  And, who hasn’t admired CD’s handwriting?  Now you can have it for yourself with her alpha set!   Have a happy Monday!

I’m Back!!

Sorry for the little blogging hiatus — things got so crazy towards the end of our trip and then once I got home I was just inundated!  And then, with every day that passed, I figure my entry needed to be that much more monumental to make up for the lack of posting and everyday I couldn’t think of anything monumental to say. And so, another day would pass.  Then I gave up on monumental and just decided to post!

Sooo… where to begin?  New Year’s Resolutions?  Umm… kind of didn’t really happen.  The intentions were good but when you are traveling over the 1st, it’s hard to get started in earnest.  And then when you get home and it’s well past the 1st, it’s hard to make the 7th that clean slate that January 1st.  So, I’ve been rather half-assed about it.  I’ve decided that I’m going to work out 15 times a month — that way if there’s a bad week I don’t have to feel bad about it — I’ll still have time to make it up (that being said, I need to get 5 workouts in in 5 days!).  I’m back to Weight Watchers.  I am 2.4 lbs above my Weight Watchers goal weight.  And if you are more than 2 lbs above, you need to pay.  I am confessing my weight weekly to a friend, but this first week hasn’t gone especially well — even though you don’t have to cut out certain foods you do need to stay within your points and somehow those 2 chocolate chip cookies on Thursday, the 3 on Friday, the FOUR yesterday and the one today are probably going to keep the scale from moving a whole bunch.  Hopefully I at least one have to pay, but I don’t think I’m showing up at CHA looking much different!  I am 10 pounds away from the weight that’s been my dream weight sincd 8th grade.  I’ve got to get a bit more serious if this is actually going to be the year that I get there!!!

What else,  my furniture finally came for my livingroom — well, some of it that is.  I now am the proud owner of a hot pink loveseat and a very brightly striped ottoman.  When I went to pay for them the woman asked me, “What are you going to do with that couch?”  And just in case I wasn’t telling the truth that it was going in my livingroom she also asked Wendy what I was going to do with it!  I LOVE it and I think once the living room is actually complete, it’s going to look great!

Here’s a photo of the kids and the couch:

And in front of the buffet that I found when Emily, Paolo, Jill, Ali and I went to the Coburg Antique Fair. (And just to explain the t-shirt over the sweater, Jack picked out his outfit all by himself!)

The chairs I’ve ordered aren’t here yet, but hopefully in a few weeks!  This is a photo of them but mine will be in white leather and there won’t be nailheads on them.

And I want this mirror:

(Good thing my sister is a designer and I get her discount!)

Then I just need a side table, drapes, throw pillows, a tray for the ottoman, and this gorgeous print (that’s now been rolled up in a closet for 9 years) framed and I will finally have my livingroom furnished after 7+ years in this house!  But, I figured I’d rather take my time, figure out what I really wanted and then purchase very well-made pieces so that in the future, I can reupholster them if I want a change instead of needing to start from scratch.  I’ll show you photos in about 6 more months when it should be all done!

We’ve been having rather odd weather for Willamette Valley — several days of snow.  It’s been a fun change of pace, but I do have my fingers crossed that tomorrow won’t be a snow day even though it appears it’s going to be.  Three snow days in one month are already more than enough!  Mama’s gotta get some work done!!  But, this was the view I woke up to Friday morning and was reminded of why I love where we live!

And here’s the kids sledding with some exchange students staying next door — THE sweetest girls!

And how about some scrapbook news?!?!!

I just got the images from Christine of the Valentine’s Day project kit she completed for the store.  I think it is the cutest thing!  The birds on the outside are from this beautiful vintage wallpaper I found at the Coburg Antique Fair too.

And, while I’m at it, how about a sneak peek of the March kit?

Well, I hope this very lengthy post makes up a bit for being MIA for so long! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
