Tips & Tricks: write in gesso

Hi everyone!

I will share a fun background technique with you today. I covered my cardstock with gesso and I made the layer a little thicker than if I had just wanted to paint it white, and then I used a thin stick to write in the gesso. I wrote some thoughts about Linus and school – the theme for my layout – and then I set the page aside to dry. When it was dry I covered the entire background with mist. I didn’t do any rubbing or anything, but just let the mist spread the way it wanted and I loved how it turned out.

I then finished my layout… adding patterned papers, machine stitching, the photo, the title and some drips of Glimmer Glam. The title says something like: ”time for third” (grade) and the photo is from the first day of school this autumn. I don’t mind that the journaling on the background doesn’t show. I created it because I liked the look of it, but I feel good knowing that I wrote things about how much Linus likes his teachers and how much he enjoys going to school. It really doesn’t matter to me that it’s not possible to read for everyone.

Have a lovely Wednesday and thank you for stopping by!
