Hi ladies, Mou here. Every Father’s day for the last few years, Nini, our daughter, has been bringing home some cute handmade present for her daddy-pencil holder made out of toilet paper roll, painted brown paper bag with a doughnut inside, hand print made into a precious card and more. Daddy likes the attention, that I can tell
Every Father’s day since I came to the States, I make a card to send my dad in India. And even though I can’t be there to see his face light up with a smile to open the card, I always get a call from him saying thanks for the card. That makes me happy because no matter how old we are or how many kids we ourselves have, us girls still remain daddy’s little girl in some way or another…forever.
This is the card I made for him this year. Right now, I’m loving the layered vintage look. The June Cocoa Daisy kit was just perfect for that.
-
I started out with one of the Teressa Collins file folders as my base for the card. Somehow to me, men and office supplies and stripes coordinate well
-
I pulled out my pinking scissors and trimmed the edges of my green 7 Gypsies paper and layered it on the file folder.
-
Next, I cut out a piece of the bingo style paper and inked its edges.
-
I popped out the innermost circle from the die cut sheet and attached it with pop dots toward the bottom right side of the bingo paper.
-
Using a circle punch, I punched out the sentiment ‘Reserved for personal use only’ and layered it with bigger pop dots.
-
I wrapped a length of baker’s twine a couple of times around this block and tied it into a knot.
-
Next, I mounted the bingo block with foam tape above the green paper.
-
I used the brown letter stickers to spell out DAD and stitched a corner around it
-
Finally, I gently rubbed down some of my favorite image from the Basic Grey rub-on booklet.
Hope you will be able to make time this weekend to celebrate these special men in your lives.
