Heidi Swapp Journal Fun

Hi Daises

I just loved this Heidi Swapp Journal from the May Add-ons.  The interior has pages ready to go but you can decide how to arrange them.  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to use it for and then lexi (my DD) said “you know you want to give it to me.”  She is visiting some friends this summer, so I decided to that…make her a summer journal.  I want to show you how I started the layering process on this journal.  I had lots of fun with Gesso & Molding paste.

First I taped off the side using regular masking tape.  Then I applied athin layer of gesso.

Next I took a plastic palette knife and starting applying heavy molding paste.  I wanted the front to have fun textures so I just kept layering & “swiping” the paste in random pattern.

I added a piece of the SEI lace paper and then lightly coated in the molding paste.  I wanted it to still be visible but have some texture as well.

You know me & layers.  I just kept adding little bits of layers until I got the texture I wanted.  Here I am squishing the paste into a ribbon and then carefully lifted it off to get those little dots.

Perfectly imperfect!

For the title, I took the negatives of the alphabet from the March kit and used it to create these letters.  I used the same technique as above.  I was originally just using the black piece in the P as a place holder but I like it so much in there I just left it.  Let your piece dry completely, overnight if you can.

Add paint, paper, & other embellishments.  I wish you could hold this little journal because it has such a cool texture.  You can paint it heavily or light, the possibilities are endless.  And now here are some peeks at the interior page dividers:

I also added some molding paste to one of the dividers.  Just have fun & play around with it.

Lots of Love,
