Teaming Up With…
This month I have teamed up with Mandie, Mandy Kay, Anna, Alissa, Denise, Jody and MandyK.
The topic this month is black and white photos. We all scrapped a LO using black and white photos using our February ‘Color Swatch’ Kit.
Here’s what we all made.
Let’s start with Mandie. Mandie when bright. Using lots of colour in her background to really help the photo stand out. The black title really pulls it all together.
Mandy Kay’s LO is a little more subtle. The greys in the background really match the photo, but the little pops of colour throughout make this page come to life. The Thickers from the ‘Mood Board’ addon are a perfect match for this LO. I love how the red hearts behind the photo really draw focus to the sweet photo.
This LO of Anna’s is so arty. The photo has such depth and the blue paint behind works so well.
Alissa has used a black and pink colour combo on her LO. What a great girlie page.
Denise has used some pieces from the ‘Mood Board’ addon on her LO too. Another sweet photo. Sometime I do think that you can capture more feeling in a black and white photo.
Jody’s black and white photos have a warmth about them. Using the pale grey and the kraft gives them a slight sepia tone. You can get so many shades of black and white when changing the tones of your photos if you do it yourself. I love the softer, homely feel to this.
MandyK’s LO is such a contrast to Jody’s. It’s light, bright and airy. Must be that Californian feel to the photo : )
I’ve layered my photos up. Starting with a black and white, I then printed the same photo but in colour to layer on top. I wanted to create a fun and bright page as the LO is about my sister who is a very fun and colourful person to be around.
As you can see from our examples, black and white isn’t one look and certainly doesn’t mean creating a dark LO. These 8 LO’s here couldn’t been more difefrent, each with a different tone and a different feeling. It’s great to experiement. If you haven’t edited your photos before you can try doing it yourself on picmonkey.com. It’s free and very easy and lots of fun.
Why not give it a go.
