Hello all! Emily here today with our monthy feature, the Gallery Lift. Each month one of our DT gets to poke through our Cocoa Daisy gallery and find a layout they’d like to lift. When I saw this one by the very talented Ellen Sosnoski (check out her Cocoa Daisy gallerytoo), I knew it was the one I had to lift for the following reasons:
- It’s bright and cheery. I love the color combinations she used, put that on a black background, and well, I was sold.
- The map behind the photo. SO cool. And I happened to have a map stamp that would work perfectly for such a design.
- The design. I loved how she has a frame thing going on, but it’s not all centered. Very cool look! And the photo on the side, it just made me happy.
So here’s my take on Ellen’s awesome layout. I had it as a 12×12, but since I used smaller photos, it was just floating there. Once I cut everything down, the scale worked much better for me. I tried to go bright and cheery, just using a different color palette. I kept the framing aspect, but pushed it all over to the side, even off the page a bit. I added some punching of holes and stitching and replace the tab with a tag. I love having such an awesome piece to inspire me, it was easy to just plug and play this great design.
Thanks Ellen, I love how my layout, inspired by your layout, turned out!
