February’s Kit “by the numbers”

We’re excited to bring you By the Numbers, our whimsical and playful February kit, packed so full of numbers, we don’t want to try to figure out exactly how many are in there. What we do know is that we’ve mixed papers from My Mind’s Eye, Sassafras Lass (get it before it’s gone!), and Crate Paper. Combine those with embellishments from American Crafts, Elle’s Studio, our exclusive Cocoa Daisy stamp, as well as some Tim Holtz, Seven Gypsies, topped off with a bit more Sassafras for good measure, and this kit adds up to one fun collection you can count on for instant inspiration.

Dewey Decimal

A nice neutral support kit featuring a whole package of just numbers from American Crafts, fun wooden buttons from Prima, die cut paper from Studio Calico, and some eclectic postcards and journaling spots make, finished off with a pop of teal Hambly rub ons.

Barcode

Pearls from KaiserCraft, a card wrapped with ribbon and twine from Crate Paper, and a bit more My Mind’s Eye make Barcode a cheerful addition to the main kit this month.

…Count the Ways

Our nod to Valentine’s Day, this add on has all you’ll need to make that special someone feel loved. A whole pack of heart pins from Maya Road, papers and embellishments from Basic Grey, Pebbles, and Crate, we can’t wait to see what you do with this add on!

Inspiration Tuesday

I have been really inspired lately—by food, movies, design…it’s hard to corral it into one place that makes sense. Since this is my first post, I’ll show you a little inspiration of one of my most favorite things: design. Design inspires me via colors, patterns and typography, and thanks to the internet, there is no shortage of great design to check out.

I’m totally in love with the letterpressed background and type in this business card! I love the teal + orange combo and all of the white space the design allows.

Logo design is one area that I’ve had the least practice in, but seeing this panel of prospective logos makes me happy! It’s funny how many designs you can make out of just a few words.

I love the rainbow effect of this print, not to mention the wisdom its words hold. I also love that the designer chose to use colors other than your run-of-the-mill ROYGBIV combo.

Everything about this invite makes me swoon. Yellow! Grey! Banners! Scripts! It’s simply gorgeous.

And last but not least, a few throwback product labels. The oranges, reds and teals compliment each other nicely, and I love the typography and distressed look.

Old Book Christmas Tree.

Anyone who knows me knows I adore old book paper and when my Mom showed me the tree she had made from an old book I asked her if she would make one for me. She made me a nice full one from an old book and I decorated it with wooden snowflakes (from the December kit Amber Snowflake), red pearls from Kaiser Craft, burlap ribbon, punched snowflakes and some wooden buttons. It came together quickly and I love how rustic and soft it looks.

Isn’t it sweet!

I can see this as the base for a pretty little angel too! You can find instructions on how to create the tree here.

Merry & Bright Punchable Circle Die Cuts.

I created these circles last year and I love them! I like to use one on each page of my December album, creates unity through the whole album regardless of what patterned paper I use.

This photo from last year’s album shows you how I used them in 3 different ways: as a tab along the top of a page, in my journaling and how I used a blank one with chipboard numbers.

There are two 8 1/2 x 11 pages with a complete set of numbers (1-25) as well as some blank ones so you can add your own numbers. They work well with a 1 5/8″ or a 1 3/4″ circle punch.

October Tales From The Bunker.

Hope most everyone has received their October kit and add-ons by now and are enjoying all the fall inspired goodies. I am happy to say that I am actually taking a few days off and writing this from the state of Wyoming. So glad I got to spend the afternoon with Ronda yesterday. I love that she lives so close to Jeffery and I get to see her often!

OK, so on to few of the interesting things that happened at Cocoa Daisy this month. First of all Mom and Dad and I started a new tradition (totally by accident) this month. I had invited them over to have dinner with us and after dinner Mom was going to help me start to get things set up for packing the October kits. This consists of getting all the plastic packaging off the paper and embellishments that go in the kits. You would be surprised at how long this takes. Well my Father asked to help and between the three of us we got it done as Dad says “before Wheel of Fortune came on”. Needless to say it went a lot faster with three sets of hands instead of just one. So my Dad said that as long as I feed him dinner we can do this every month. I think we will! Here is a picture of my hardworking helpers:

Finally I am thrilled to say that my new office is finished! Walking into my new office every morning with all the bright sunlight streaming in has been such a treat! If you ever wondered what my style is like I think this office defines it perfectly!

I helped my Brother and his wife renovate a good portion of their house this summer and in return I was able to get this beautiful project table! I love how warm and big it is! Very helpful for spreading out catalogs on.

My brother took the doors off the closet and built shelves for me. I like how it opens up the room. I think it’s very ironic how my initials and those of Cocoa Daisy are same

Hair band tutorial.
