Yes, it’s that time of the month again where we announce the winner of last months challenge and launch a whole new challenge too.
We had some amazing pieces of work last month lifting Denise’s fun style. Here are a couple of examples.
This one from Ebonyj.
And this from Marie.
Denise and I found it really hard to pick, but in the end we decided on this stunning piece of work from RoqinElvis13.
Those bright shades of yellow really pop out. Gorgeous background work and splashes of ink. Love it : ) Congratulations!! You can see more of RoqinElvis13′s work in her inspiring gallery here.
Now on to this months challenge. This month we are meeting our lovely Anna. Anna is so talented and fills her Cocoa Daisy gallery with art journal pages, LO’s, cards and canvases along with other projects too. This month anything goes. Please feel free to create anything. Here are some pieces of Anna’s work to inspire you.
Please join us on the message board here where we will chat about this challenge and share our work. We’d love to see what you create. Or please feel free to add a link here to your own blog showing your challenge piece.
This challenge runs until June 13th 10pm EST. It is a ‘just for fun’ challenge and is here to stretch and inspire. The winner will be announced and shown on our blog.
Have fun, we can’t wait to see your take on Anna’s style.
Hello and welcome to Mays ‘Teaming Up With’ blog post. This month Stephanie, Sharmaine and myself got together and used some of the packaging on our LO’s from this months Kit Record Label.
Have you also ever felt that the packaging is just too good to throw away? Sometimes there can be a fab design on the back and you know that you will be able to use it on something. So this month we thought we’d show you what we’ve used from our kits to make them stretch even further.
Let’s start with Sharmaine and her LO ‘When the Love is Right’.
Sharmaine says:
I love to find ways to reuse packaging.
On this page I’ve used the Basic Grey packaging (way too cool to throw away) as the backing for my photo AND as the journal tag.
I have to agree with Sharmaine here, that Basic Grey packaging is definately too cool to throw away. Sharmaine also made this LO with the Record Label kit.
Sharmaine used the ‘Day in the Life’ sticker from the kit packaging. She cut it up in to two halves. Can you spot them?
That’s an awsome LO Sharmaine!
Stephanie also felt that the designs were just too good to throw away on her packaging this month and cut some into strips to add to this LO.
You would never guess that some of these strips would usually have ended up in the trash, would you?!
And finally my LO’s. It was the Basic Grey packaging that got me too. This Hipster collection is so much fun. Can you guess which piece belongs in the trash?
It’s the piece of card with all the orange words. It was the packaging from the Fuzzy Rubons from the JohnnyB addon. I really couldn’t have thrown it away, it’s way too cool for that. So I rounded off the corners and inked the edges. The little strip of cameras on the right is also from the Glitz packaging.
Looking at it now, you could also cut some of those pieces out.
I wasn’t quite finished with this packaging. I used the Fuzzy rubons on this LO here.
Once I’d rubbed them on to my LO I was left with a fuzzy sheet (the negative) so I cut out some of the shapes rather than throwing this away and added these to my LO too. Like the centre arrow on the right and the strip of chevrons below. The botton strip of chevrons is the acual rubbon and the strip above is the negative that I’ve cut out.
Next time you open up your Cocoa Daisy kit, maybe look at it with new eyes. Don’t just think about how you are going to use the actual kit, maybe have a think about how you can stretch it even further. The brown paper bags can be used, the little glassine envelopes, the packaging stickers like how Sharmaine did and the product packaging too. Some packaging can make great masks for misting over or using as stencils. The ideas are endless.
I have to say, it’s taken me a long time to get bitten by the Project Life bug, but now I’ve started I’m hooked.
I always thought that scrapbooking was about documenting the everyday. Photographing and journaling about the things that we would not usually think twice about, but since starting Project Life it’s made me realise that I’m still missing out on so much. So many things in our everyday life are passing me by and are being forgotten. Like when I walked in to the family room the other day and my youngest had made a cozy spot on the sofa for me or the text from school saying that he’d done so well in his maths lesson. I also love having somewhere to keep tickets, reciepts and other various bits and pieces. So yes, I am hooked on Project Life now.
I am so pleased that we’ve started a ‘Day in the Life’ kit at Cocoa Daisy. I started using my Cocoa Daisy kit left overs and cutting bits down at the end of the month to use on my Project Life pages, but these mini kits are making it so much easier. Everything cut down in to Project Life size, little stickers, embellishments, words and stamps too. So much crammed in to one little kit.
The great thing about this size kit too is that we can reduce the postage as the packaging can be reduced. You get a little package packed full of exclusive and trendy products for all your Project Life needs and spend less on shipping. If you buy a monthly main kit and add this kit to your order by the end of May 3rd, there will be no extra shipping to pay.
US: $6.00
Canada: $9.00
International $14.00
You can buy and also view this months kit in full detail and large here.
Here are some examples on how the DT have used the Day in the Life Kit.
I love the turquoise accents on Alissa’s page.I love the hair clipping Alissa : ) I also spot some pieces from the Johnny B addon.
I love that Denise has also taken the plunge and doing her own version of Project Life. You can clearly see the Simple Stories Record Label Cards here that have been exclusively designed for Cocoa Daisy. Rad!!
Jaime has also had fun with these Record Cards. I love those blue Jillibean word stickers that come with this kit.
Mandie has also been busy. Those rounded corners make such a difference.
And also my own page. I loved the stamps in this months Day in the Life Kit.
We’d love to see what you’ve been doing with your Day in the Life Kits. Please do come and show us.
We are dedicating a whole day to scrapbooking this Saturday 4th May and hope you will be able to do so too.
We are kicking off the day at 8am EST and throughout the day there will be challenges, games, lots of chat, a blog hop with prizes, a competition, stacks of inspiration and SO MUCH FUN.
Sunday we will be here throughout the day for more chat and scrapbooking. Kind of like a crop day.
Please join us on the boards here to find out how you can play along.
Denise brings fun and colour in a child like random kind of way to our gallery each month.
I love her fearless style. There’s a cool messiness to her work. She paints, she mists and masks, she scribbles, she layers.
Hopefully you know how this monthly challenge now goes. Each month we focus upon one of our DT members and then lift their style. It’s the perfect timing for a mid month challenge with the new kits arriving and having the leftovers from the previous months kit still to hand. Why not join in with this challenge and use both March and Aprils Kits?!
Lets take a look at some of Denise’s fun crreations.
She’s the wild child on the team : )
We’d love to see you release your inner wild child too and join in. This is a ‘just for fun’ challenge and is for your fun and inspiration, maybe the excuse to try something new. The challenge will run until May 13th 10pm EST. A winner will be picked and announced on the blog here. Please upload your work here or visit our message board here to play and join in with the challenge chatter. You don’t have to have a Cocoa Daisy Kit to join in. I’ve kickstarted us with my take on Denise’s style.
And now time to announce the winner to the March ‘Pleased to Meet You’ challenge.
Congratulations to AnneP. We just loved Anne’s take on Diana’s beautiful style and sketch. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is one very stunning LO. You can see more of Anne’s beautiful work on her blog here.
Thank you to everyone who played along last month and well done to our winner AnneP.
