Layouts of the Month

Hello everyone.  It’s the last monday of the month which means I get to share with you some of the wonderful creative talent we have here in the gallery every month.

Here are just a few.

First up is Marti’s amazing and sunny 12×12.  She used the frames from last month’s kit and kept them intact.  Then added instagram photos and the Simple Stories exclusive papers.  Love this!

Next up is Tanya Hubbard’s lovely 12×12.  The mix of colors and patterned paper in this is so pretty.  I also love how she colored the white letters to make them pop.

This one by RoqinElvis13 is amazing with it’s bright yellow and lots of paint.

How about Nancy Burke’s layout here?  I adore the clothes line and the cards with that photo.  so well done!

The last layout I want to share is Asil or Lisa’s.  It’s really breathtaking.  The texture and color are so amazing.

It almost looks digital!

There are many, many more beautiful layouts in the gallery to see.  It’s hard choosing which ones’ to show each month.  This is just a sprinkling.  I love to see your work!

Throwback Thursday

I feel like sometimes I hoard my leftovers and I don’t know why except they are all so pretty and I don’t want to ruin them?!  Weird.  I just need to use them.  Doing this assignment was actually really fun because I felt the freedom to just mix and match the stuff I had in past kits.  Here’s what I did.

I ended up using the Pink Paislee Chipboard tiles from March 2012.  I also used the Jenni Bowlin polka dot numbers from February 2012 kit.

Both those embellishments were some of my favorites but I just didn’t know what to do.  I just started slapping things down and liked what happened.

I decided to use the numbers as a background element instead of using them in a title.

Hope you are still using past kits and not feeling afraid to mix them up.  It is actually really fun.

Layouts of the Month

Another month, another glimpse of our fabulous gallery at Cocoa Daisy!

Here is one by Marianne.  I really like the soft grays and pinks of this layout.  She did such a nice job with the little bits and embellishments like the arrows and the flair.  I also love how the title stands out so nicely against the soft color combo.

Sherry used the glassine envelope that comes in the kit and filled it with flower petals from the bouquet in the photo and sequins.  This layout is so pretty with it’s

pinks and blues.  I love how she used the flower ribbon as an embellishment.

Next up is Ami.  This layout really caught my eye.  It is so graphically interesting in it’s design and color choices.  I also really like the misted stars.

This layout by gretehw is stunning because of the photograph.  It completely draws you in.  It makes me want to know more about the people and the traveling!

This layout by tonyaboo is fantastic.  She mixed pattern paper together perfectly. The black and white ribbon really anchors all the patterns.  What darling smiles too!

The last one this month is by Marie, or mison.  I am crazy about the messy background and all the layered bits.  Marie does messy so beautifully.  Like a flower garden on a page.

These are really just a little bit of all the talent that is in the gallery this month.  Thanks so much for all the inspiration ladies.

You all make me want to scrap!

Tips and Tricks

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I have a quick one for you today.  I am always using non artsy things for my scrapbooking and mixed media projects.  This time I used a styrofoam meat packing tray as a stamp.  I noticed the indentations in the tray and realized it would work really well. I gave it a good scrub with soap and water and dried it well.

I then cut it up into smaller pieces that would be easy to handle.

I decided on my paint color and brushed a light coat of craft paint onto the styrofoam.

Then I pressed it onto my background cardstock.  Just like with a stamp and ink pad, I kept coating the styrofoam with paint as I stamped.

Here is my finished layout.

Another fun thing to do with styrofoam trays is to create your own stamps.  The tray needs to be flat, w/o indentations.  Just use a pencil and draw onto the tray.  The pencil will create it’s own indentations.  Then paint over the tray and press down.  Your homemade design will show up!

Here is a photo and a tutorial from Ruth Bleakley.  D.I.Y. printmaking tutorial.

Have a great Wednesday!

Layouts of the Month

Hello Daisies!  Today is the first of our Layouts of the Month post.  Each month on the last monday, I will be posting some of the gorgeous creations that I have admired in the gallery from the previous month.  It’s a chance for us to all see some of the great talent we may have missed.

First up is Elena with Happy Feet.  I loved the photo and the spring like colors on this.  My favorite part is the little Cocoa Daisy flower stamp peeking out of the corner of the photo.

Next I chose Margrethe with this layout called En liten pike i lave sko. It is a photo of her mother when she was a girl and it is so intriguing.  It makes me wondering what she was thinking when the photo was taken.  I love the colors and the way she used the paper.

Here is one by Aliza that just makes me so happy.  I always love her stories and this one about a conversation she had with her son Sam about cookies is no exception.  I enjoy the bright colors of this as well.

LisaDV created a fantastic layout using some older supplies.  I really like the crochet doilie with all the pretty layered bits and the blown around paint is very creative.

Lisa JJflair created this artsy beauty.  Wow.  The scratched photo is fantastic, and the drips of orange paint!

There is so much more good stuff in the gallery this month.  I can’t possibly post every layout that caught my eye but check back each month and don’t forget to check out the gallery and leave some love.  You are all amazing artists!
